Traci Hunter Abramson: I am originally from Arizona and I often visit my family who still resides there. After graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in business, I moved to northern Virginia where I worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for six years. Though I loved working for the CIA, I finally decided I loved being a mom more. With my husband's support, I started my new adventure of full-time motherhood.

My husband and I have four very active children who enjoy a broad range of activities. They are all rather tolerant of the time I spend on the computer writing, as well as the four months I spend each year coaching the North Stafford High School swim team.

As for my writing career, I started writing over ten years ago after resigning from the CIA, and it took me more than seven years to finally create a manuscript that was worth submitting. (I tried submitting earlier novels and I have the rejection letters to prove it!) The idea for Undercurrents had been rattling around in my head since college, and it took that long for it to finally take shape. Thankfully, submissions have gone much smoother since that first novel made it into print.

J. (Jewel) Adams was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. Her hard childhood spurred her imagination and later on those imaginings fueled her love for writing.

She moved to Utah in 1989 and started writing seriously a few years later.

She is a wife and the mother of eight children. When she is not home schooling her children or writing, she loves to curl up with a box of chocolates and read, her favorite books being romance and fantasy novels.

Linda Paulson Adams: Linda is the author of two novels on the Last Days (or "end times"), and has co-authored two nonfiction books, Publishing Secrets and Writing Secrets with LDStorymakers, Inc. She has published short fiction and poetry in Calyx, Lynx Eye, Irreantum, Limestone Circle, and Meridian Magazine, among others.

Linda's first novel, Prodigal Journey, was released in 2000 by Cornerstone Publishing, winning their Fiction Book of the Year Award. LDStorymakers, Inc., released the sequel, Refining Fire, in June 2004.

She received a degree in English from Brigham Young University in 1990. She plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts when the time is right.

She is raising six young children with her husband, Steve, in the San Fransisco Bay Area. They spent over a decade in Jackson County, Missouri, which sparked her interest in writing a series about apocalyptic events set in the Midwest.

Other interests include knitting, line drawing, thread crochet, yoga, keeping fish (especially Bettas), music in nearly all genres, and of course reading—especially science fiction. She has a passion for theater and film, although it's rare for her to watch a movie more than once. It has to be pretty special to deserve multiple viewings!

T. Lynn Adams: I am terrified of spiders. So I count myself blessed that, in a country known for some very large spiders, I only saw one during all my time in Peru. And that one was floating dead inside my drinking glass, legs folded over its soggy, and fuzzy, black abdomen. (I discovered it when it bumped against my lips while drinking.)

I also love to cook and have some great Peruvian recipes which I will share with you on this blog. I was able to get to know some great Peruvian cooks while living there and was even invited to the inner sanctum of a popular restaurant in Miraflores. There the chef personally taught me how to make a wonderful dish that would later become my family's favorite Peruvian meal.

Brenda Anderson was the sixth of eleven children born to Jim and Judi Baggiore. She grew up in a rural area on the western edge of Phoenix, Arizona, along with a few cows, some horses, and an occasional chicken. She enjoyed catching crawdads in the irrigation canals, playing games in the empty fields near her home, and collecting cicada skins in the summer.

In high school, Brenda met Matt Anderson, who shared her loves for hiking and writing. Four years later, Brenda left for Utah to fulfill her dream of attending Brigham Young University. However, her love for Matt and her hatred of snow brought her back to Arizona. She married Matt and started the wild adventure of being a family.

Six kids and fourteen years later, Brenda achieved her dream of graduating from Brigham Young University by completing BYU s Bachelor of General Studies program with an emphasis in writing. Stacy Gooch Anderson's first love is that of being a wife and mother since she truly believes that there is no greater calling than that of raising a good family. Her first priority has always been to give her boys a stable base in which to become strong, independent, charitable, empathetic and service oriented young men.

She has been married to the same man for 22 years (as of 2008) and is also a hockey, baseball and soccer mom, besides being an author and a corporate trainer for new writers at a local newspaper.

She graduated from Brighton High School in 1985 and then attended the University of Utah majoring in nursing. Her formal foray into writing began when she was in the sixth grade and entered her poetry into a contest. My writing career began long before I became serious about publishing. Children's musicals, Christmas plays, melodramas for Community Theatre, and my favorite, a musical about the life of Joseph Smith, as well as a play about his martyrdom. In fact, I began my professional writing career with the book, "Miracles for Michael," a novel that evolved from a Christmas play I had written for my community theatre, In Emery County, Utah, a few years before.

"Journey of the Promise," my first mystery, was so incredibly fun to write. It was almost as if it wrote itself and I just went along for the ride. So, I decided to write another mystery, Ideas flowed and "Pages From the Past," came into being. But it needed a sequel, so I followed with "The Silent Patriots".

I've always wanted to write a Fantasy because there are no boundaries as to where the imagination can take you. "Prince Etcheon and the Secret of the Ancient" in now in the publishing stage and will be out . . . when . . . I'm not sure, at this time, but soon.

Julie Coulter Bellon: I have a wonderful husband and seven children whom I adore. I am Canadian, but married an American and settled in the States. I have the best of both worlds! I love the number eight and my claim to fame is that I met Princess Diana when I was twelve years old. I love to travel and my favorite cities are probably Athens, Paris, Ottawa, and London. I would love to visit Australia and Scotland someday. And New Zealand. Ooh, and Ireland. Well, you get the picture.

I’m learning to play the bagpipes and I’m not very good at it, (I think I sound like a sick moose) but I’m working on it. I teach a journalism course for BYU Continuing Education, which makes me happy since I’m able to use my Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education for something other than a conversation piece. I love to read, write, teach, play volleyball or badminton, and take long bubble baths (which doesn’t happen too often, but I love it when it does). I have the most amazing supportive family and being a published author fulfilled a lifelong dream.

Julie Berry: I’m the youngest of seven clever children, none of whom are children anymore, but they’re all still clever. I spent my early years desperate to catch up to what they were reading, and sit at the big kids’ table.

Now with four sons of my own, ages 13, 12, 9, and 6, I eat every meal at the big kids’ table.

I grew up on a 50-acre farm complete with pigs, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, and oodles of cats and dogs. There was a pond full of frogs and turtles, a crick full of crawdads and minnows, woods full of rusted farm equipment, and fields full of milkweed and poison ivy. Heaven.

Grade school and high school years were a blur of piano lessons, volleyball, track, musicals, clubs, babysitting jobs, and lots of reading. I took beloved books to bed with me like other girls took teddy bears, nestling down under the covers with them. I still do it today. My patient husband stacks them on his bedside table before turning off the light.

I attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, graduating with a B.S. in communication. At RPI, I met my husband, and we married during my last semester. Somehow we ended up with four clever boys, and a cat. We’re lucky.

After my fourth son was born, I decided that since my dream of having a family was now firmly established, it was time to pursue my second dream, writing novels. Eventually I received an M.F.A. in writing for children and young adults from Vermont College of the Fine Arts, where I learned from many talented and committed writers for young people. The Amaranth Enchantment was the second novel I wrote in school, and the first one to sell to a publisher. Since then I've written Secondhand Charm, which is soon to be released, and the Splurch Academy for Disruptive Boys series with my older sister, Sally Faye Gardner, as the illustrator.

There’s not much I enjoy more than writing – though eating is a close contender. With any luck, there'll be more novels to talk about soon – stay tuned!

C.S. Bezas was born in a tiny Colorado town nestled high within the Rockies. As such, she grew up loving daisies and running barefoot amongst the Aspen trees. Is it any wonder, then, her imagination matches the size of those mountains!

Reading by the age of four (thanks to her mother who was a reading specialist, teacher, and consultant), C.S. Bezas fell in love with the printed word. By the time she was in grade school she was writing radio shows and larger than life stories, to the joy and frustration of her English and Science teachers (respectively). She won her first writing contest by the time she was in 7th grade.

Branching out into music and lyrics, C.S. Bezas never ceased to toodle around with creative fixations on words, music, and thought. Eventually she graduated from Brigham Young University in Communications, with an emphasis in human resource development, speech, and instructional materials (with a heavy fun-focus side of theater).

Today, C.S. Bezas writes for many venues, having garnered a variety of recognitions, winning grant money and awards. Her greatest thrill? Her family. Her favorite book? The scriptures. Her favorite place? The Rocky Mountains (we knew you'd guess it).

Stephanie Black: I’ve enjoyed making up stories since I was a child, when my sisters and I would play long, strange Barbie games or write and direct plays for ourselves and younger siblings. I took a creative writing class in high school, but my stories stunk, since I hadn’t yet figured out that a story needs a plot. But I finally got a fun idea, and an encouraging comment from the teacher got me rolling.

After a few years of writing random scenes, I decided to try writing a novel start to finish, but that led to a failed unfinished manuscript and the realization that there was a lot more to writing fiction than I’d ever understood. I began reading books about fiction technique and started over with my novel project.

After many years of reading technique books, writing, rewriting, more rewriting, submitting, and then—when I thought I was finished—major rewriting, my first novel, a futuristic thriller called The Believer, was published by Covenant Communications in January 2005. I then turned to writing contemporary suspense, and Fool Me Twice was released in 2008, followed by Methods of Madness (2009) and Cold as Ice (2010). Fool Me Twice and Methods of Madness are both Whitney Award winners for Best Mystery/Suspense.

Kersten Campbell has always loved books and chocolate doughnuts. When she was a young girl her parents had her hearing tested because she would be so involved in reading a book that she couldn't hear what was going on in the outside world. There was nothing they could do about the chocolate doughnuts.

She grew up in Wisconsin until she turned sixteen, when her family moved to Boise, Idaho. When she protested the move, her father said, "Don't worry, you'll probably find some nice Mormon boy to marry."

Confused, Kersten replied, "What's a Mormon?"

She soon found out, and joined the LDS church at age twenty-one. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho in English Literature and has written many articles and stories for church publications and other magazines. When not writing, she enjoys reading, painting, family history research, playing the clarinet in a city band, playing with children, and eating chocolate doughnuts. She is currently working on more humor essays, a young adult fiction novel, and a spiritual book about motherhood.

She and that "nice Mormon boy," live in Washington with their five beautiful children.

Orson Scott Card is the author of the novels Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, and Speaker for the Dead, which are widely read by adults and younger readers, and are increasingly used in schools.

Besides these and other science fiction novels, Card writes contemporary fantasy (Magic Street, Enchantment, Lost Boys), biblical novels (Stone Tables, Rachel and Leah), the American frontier fantasy series The Tales of Alvin Maker (beginning with Seventh Son), poetry (An Open Book), and many plays and scripts.

Card was born in Washington and grew up in California, Arizona, and Utah. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Brazil in the early 1970s. Besides his writing, he teaches occasional classes and workshops and directs plays. He recently began a longterm position as a professor of writing and literature at Southern Virginia University.

Card currently lives in Greensboro, North Carolina, with his wife, Kristine Allen Card, and their youngest child, Zina Margaret.

When he was eleven years old, Don Carey moved with his family to the Hawaiian town of La’ie, where his father taught at BYU-Hawaii. Don is a graduate of Kahuku High School where, when he wasn’t in the band room, he could be found in the library with his nose in a book.

Don was awarded the David O. McKay scholarship to attend BYU-Hawaii, where he met his lovely wife, Kara. During college, he scratched his creative itch by participating in a number of musical organizations, including the Polynesian Cultural Center Brass Band, and added a music minor to his degree in Computer Science.

Once the responsibilities of work and family took over his life, Don found the creative itch was better handled through writing fiction, and has enjoyed working to develop this talent.

Don currently lives in a small town outside Fort Worth, Texas with his wife and two daughters. His day job involves writing computer programs, which is almost the same as writing fiction, but with a lot more semicolons.

David Clark is a terrible dancer, former fake fighter, and recovering oranger. His oranging career effectively ended when he was intercepted and physically detained in a dark alley by a victimized college football player and was then forced to either rat out his friends or have his arm broken. His friends have still not forgiven him.

Linda Weaver Clarke: I was raised on a farm surrounded by the rolling hills of southern Idaho and have made my home in southern Utah among the beautiful red mountains and desert heat. I have been happily married for 36 years and am the mother of six daughters and have four wonderful grandchildren.

After my family began to leave the nest, I decided it was time to finish what I had started long ago. I decided to go back to college and get a degree. It had been 30 years since I had been to college and it was one of the most frightening things I had ever done. I had to learn how to study and take tests all over again. The first day of college, I was a nervous wreck and wondered if I could do this, but with the support of my husband and children I was able to graduate. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and Music at Southern Utah University and received the Outstanding Non-Traditional Student Award for the College of Performing Arts in 2002. During that same time, I cut a CD named "Romantic Love Songs of Sigmund Romberg and Victor Herbert."

I have enjoyed writing short stories and novels for several years but it took a lot of courage to begin submitting them. After "Melinda and the Wild West" was published, I entered it in the Reader Views Literary Contest and my book was chosen as a Semi-Finalist in the "Reviewers Choice Awards 2007." It was one of the top ten out of hundreds of other entries.

Jaleta Clegg was born some time ago. She’s filled the years since with many diverse activities, such as costuming, quilting, cooking, video games, reading, and writing. She’s been a fan of classic sci-fi books and campy movies since she can remember. Her collection of bad sci-fi movies is only rivaled by her collection of eclectic CD’s (polka, opera, or Irish folk songs, anyone?).

She feels privileged to join the ranks of science fiction authors.

Her day job involves an inflatable planetarium, numerous school children, and starship simulators. Her summer job involves cooking alien food for space camp. She writes a regular column in Abandoned Towers Magazine—fancy dinner menus for themed parties.

Previous fiction publications haven’t happened yet, but she has several stories coming out this year in various magazines, both online and print.

Jaleta lives in Utah with her husband, a horde of her own children, and two ancient, toothless cats. She wants to be either Han Solo or Ursula the Sea Witch when she grows up. If she ever does.

She also detests referring to herself in the third person, but sometimes she bows to necessity. (And that is my one and only hunting trophy. I bagged an Orc of the Black Hand one fine May day using only my trusty battleaxe.)

Born in Texas in 1949, I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where Iattended Olmos Elementary, Nimitz Junior High, and Robert E. Lee HighSchool. I graduated from the University of Utah with a BS degree in Political Science and I also hold a Master of Science degree in the Analysis of Strategic Intelligence from the Defense Intelligence College in Washington, D.C.

I served in the U.S. military for 20 years, with 7 of that as an enlisted member working as an operating room technician, and 13 yearsas a commissioned officer in Military Intelligence. I started in the military as an E-1, the lowest enlisted rank, and “graduated” with the rank of Regular Army Major.

I retired from the military in 1994 in Anchorage, Alaska, and worked for a short time in the private sector before going to work for the State of Alaska in several management positions. I retired from state service in 2010.

I met the love of my life, Pamela, in Heidelberg, Germany, and we havebeen married for 35 years. We have seven great sons, and 9 wonderful grandchildren. We currently split our time between homes in Anchorage, Alaska, and Mapleton, Utah.

Susan Dayley is the second of nine children, and she has loved stories and the magic of words since childhood. Many nights she would tell adventure stories to her sisters. Often she would escape to a grassy meadow or climb a backyard willow tree to read a beloved book. As a child, her favorites included Joe's Boys, Call of the Wild, and Heidi.

Anna was born in the extreme South along some famous beaches in Chile. She grew up with four other siblings being placed in the middle. Her mother died when she was six and she found a new mother in her husband’s mother and loves her dearly. She accredits her mother-in-law with teaching her many things in life.

The green eyed, brown haired author moved north USA, to marry her husband Rodney and has resided in Utah since then. Her husband, a native of Idaho, met her in her hometown. They fell in love and she came to Utah on Christmas Eve to be married in the Salt Lake Temple two weeks later. They are the parents of three princes and a princess.

Early on in her life she showed an affinity for sewing and took classes that rewarded her with the opportunities of doing costuming for the cast of four musicals, which she enjoyed immensely. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

She has also serve 4 years as ordinance worker in JR temple and served for three years on an inner-city Spanish mission with her husband.

At the ripe-old age of five, I wrote my first book. Entitled “The Sun,” this work of literary genius contained such awe-inspiring passages as, “The sun is yellow.” It was a ground-breaking success among the Kindergarten of Roadrunner Elementary. On the heals of this success, I went on to write absolutely nothing for many, many years.

A true romantic at heart, though I forcefully deny the charge, I harbor a true weakness for the Regency era in English history. Between world war on a scale unheard of until that time, the political upheaval at home, a changing economy, the rise of industrialism and the burgeoning belief in the importance of romantic love, the early 19th Century has a little of everything.

My first novel, The Ramshackle Knight, was published in May of 2007 and met with rave reviews from my mother and closest relatives. Spurred on by the unbiased acclaim, I wrote eight more Regency romances before being picked up by Covenant Communications.

Terri Ferran grew up in a small Colorado town that offered little in the way of entertainment. She escaped through reading (and later on a Continental Trailways bus), and although the town didn't have a library, she eagerly anticipated the coming of the Bookmobile and would check out stacks of books at a time.

She finally got brave enough to quit working in the world of numbers to pursue her dream of writing and also to spend more time with her children. Her first book, Finding Faith was published in 2007 and she is excited to be living her dream of writing in real life.

Terri still loves to read, but she can usually be found writing, doing laundry, dishes, running errands, napping, eating chocolate, or exercising (not necessarily in that order).

Daron Fraley was born in Powell, Wyoming, but doesn’t consider himself a cowboy. Living in France for a couple of years provided him the opportunity to hone his cooking skills and to become addicted to good food and chocolate. Apart from his loving family, teaching and writing are his two most favorite things in the world. A classic computer geek, he still likes to fish and camp, makes a mean apple or pumpkin pie from scratch, and once fixed a gas clothes dryer using photocopier parts. With all of his interests in music, art, the sciences, and religion (especially religion), he would have been quite comfortable living during the Renaissance. Having toured chilly castles while in France, he is glad he didn’t live during that time. “The Thorn” is his first novel.

After ten total years in the wonderful state of Indiana, Daron, his wife Jennifer, and their six children once again live in the beautiful Rockies, close to friends and family in Wyoming and Utah.

Karen Gowen: Born and raised in central Illinois, the daughter of a second-generation Methodist minister, I now live in South Jordan, Utah with my husband and three of our ten children. Sandra Grey was born in Inglewood, California to a very large two-generation military family. Her paternal grandfather served in World War II and her father is a retired Air Force major who trained to be a spy during the cold war.

Sandra remembers one Halloween as a child finding her mother at the kitchen sink conversing intimately with a stranger – a tall man with red hair and red mustache who, after Sandra’s initial shock wore off, sounded like her father and had her father’s eyes. Her father’s never-used, government-supplied spy disguise kit had been utilized for his Halloween costume. The most clandestine action that spy kit ever experienced was when Sandra’s mother arrived at the airport to pick up her husband after spy school, and she found herself being ruthlessly stalked by a tall, handsome, red-haired stranger.

Sandra graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Humanities and has followed her insatiable curiosity and love of history on adventures from Asia to Alaska, Mexico to Europe, and Russia to Brazil. Shannon Hale: Shannon's mother says she was a storyteller from birth, jabbering endlessly in nonsensical baby-talk. Once she could speak, she made up stories and bribed younger siblings to perform them in mini-plays until, thankfully, an elementary school teacher introduced her to the wonder of written fiction. At age 10, she began to write books, mostly fantasy stories where she was the heroine.

She continued to write secretly for years while pursuing acting in television, stage, and improv comedy. I was always writing plays as a child, and my mother would clear out the basement so the neighborhood kids could perform my "works of art". In high school I was encouraged by my English teacher, Mrs. Harvey, who once asked of me, "Have you ever thought of becoming a writer?" Well, I wrote my first "novel" at age seventeen, a sappy love story between a beach bum and a rich girl. Ah, to be seventeen again. But from that first attempt I have never looked back, working to improve my skills and voice as a writer. Perseverance is not always easy to maintain in life, especially when it comes to writing, but when you love something as much as I love writing it becomes a necessity of life. I hope my readers will experience my passion for the written word, my faith, my optimism, and general belief that we can overcome adversity in this life and know true happiness.

I am a native of Utah but have also lived in Montanta, Nebraska, Idaho, and Colorado. I love to go camping with my family, I enjoy travel and have a great love of history which is why my passion is writing historical fiction. Angela Hallstrom is the oldest child of a police detective and a piano teacher. As a result, she rarely lies (people will see right through her!) and can play the complete score from Saturday’s Warrior. Yes, even “Zero Population.”

As a child, she often fantasized that Laura Ingalls Wilder could be zapped into the future so she could introduce her to all the cool new inventions of the late 20th century, like blue mascara and microwavable hot dogs with cheese inside. She also spent a great deal of time reading adolescent fiction about teenagers with terminal diseases. In the fifth grade, she misspelled “emotional” in the school-wide spelling bee and, ever since, has relied heavily on copy editors.

She lives in South Jordan, Utah, with her husband (to whom she never lies because he can see right through her) and four children (who’ve never, to this day, eaten a microwavable hot dog with cheese inside). Although she has an MFA in fiction and has published some short stories and a novel and teaches at BYU, in the most recent issue of Irreantum an author used the word “liminal,” and she had to look it up. In an attempt to be taken more seriously, she’s trying to wean herself from the overuse of smiley face emoticons in her electronic correspondence.

Donna Hatch has had a passion for writing since the age of 8 when she wrote her first short story. During her sophomore year in high school, she wrote her first full-length novel, a science fiction romance. She wrote her second novel during her senior year, a fantasy romance. Karen E. Hoover has loved the written word for as long as she can remember. Her favorite memory of her dad is the time he spent with Karen on his lap, telling her stories for hours on end. Her dad promised he would have Karen reading on her own by the time she was four years old … and he very nearly did. Karen took the gift of words her dad gave her and ran with it. Hi, I’m Heather Justesen, writer of LDS women’s fiction.

Ask anyone who knew me growing up, I would as soon have my nose in a book as go to the neighbor’s to play. I suppose it was only a matter of time until I started making up stories of my own.

Though I dabbled some in high school, I didn't write again until after I graduated from Southern Utah University with a BA in English literature in 1998. People always ask me if I studied English because I planned to be a writer, but honestly writing was the furthest thing from my mind until after I graduated (or I would have studied actually writing during that time, instead of books written by people who've been dead for hundreds of years!).

After nearly ten years of writing, I finally saw my first book in print. When I'm not writing, I'm running as a volunteer EMT-I with my local ambulance service, playing in the kitchen, in the yard gardening, or with my menagerie of chickens, geese, ducks, guineas and the lone tom turkey.

A newcomer to Cedar Fort Publications, Carla Kelly is a veteran of the New York and international publishing world. The author of more than thirty novels and novellas for Donald I. Fine Co., Signet, and Harlequin, Carla is the recipient of two Rita Awards (think Oscars for romance writing), from Romance Writers of America, and two Spur Awards (think Oscars for western fiction) from Western Writers of America.

Recently, she's been writing Regency romances (think Pride and Prejudice), set in the Royal Navy's Channel Fleet during the Napoleonic Wars between England and France. She comes by her love of the ocean from her childhood as a Navy brat.

Carla's history background makes her no stranger to footnote work, either. During her National Park Service days at Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site, Carla edited Friedrich Kurz's fur trade journal. She recently completed a short history of Fort Buford, where Sitting Bull surrendered in 1881.

Following the "dumb luck" principle that has guided their lives, the Kellys recently moved to Wellington, Utah, from North Dakota, and couldn't be happier in their new location. In her spare time, Carla volunteers at the Railroad and Mining Museum in Helper, Utah. She likes to visit her five children, who live here and there around the U.S. Her favorite place in Utah is Manti, after a drive on the scenic byway through Huntington Canyon.

And why is she so happy these days? Carla looks forward to writing for an LDS audience now, where she feels most at home.

Josi S. Kilpack was born and raised in Salt Lake City, the third of nine children, and accounts much of her success to her mother always making oatmeal for breakfast. In 1993 Josi married her high-school sweetheart, Lee Kilpack, and went on to raise her own children in Salt Lake and then Willard Utah where she currently lives. Lynn Kurland began her writing career at the tender age of five with a series of illustrated shorts entitled Clinton's Troubles in which the compelling hero found himself in all sorts of, well, trouble. She was living in Hawaii at the time and the scope for her imagination (poisoned fish, tropical cliffs, large spiders) was great and Clinton bore the brunt of it. After returning to the states a short while later, writing gave way to music and a poor sap being felled with arrows, being eaten by fish and falling off cars was put aside for operatic heroes in tights.

But somehow during high school, in between bouts of Verdi and Rossini, she managed to find time to submerge herself in equal parts of Tolkien, Barbara Cartland and Mad Magazine. During college, a chance encounter with a large library stack of romances left her hooked, gave her the courage to put pen to paper herself, and finally satisfied that need for a little bit of fantasy with a whole lot of romance!

Two children, three cats, a remodel or two and thousands of pages later, she still loves what she does, still loves finding ways to write the out-of-the-ordinary in everyday situations, and wonders quite often if the castles she occasionally gets to visit really are haunted . . .

She could never quite regret the transition from Ordinary Mortal to Lady Dragon Rider despite the way gravity takes on a whole new meaning when one is brushing elbows with the sky–if the sky had elbows, that is.

But she has long ago considered the Laws of Physics to be more like guidelines, guidelines that tend to mean business, but that can also be manipulated like tufts of cotton candy. This has helped her greatly when the dragon she happens to be riding decides to take a sudden dive when it spots something shiny and golden. At one time she tried to break dragons of their penchant for all things shiny and golden, but then they threatened to try to break her of her book habits. They have since come to a compromise that allows the dragons to horde whatever they want so long as she can continue to horde–er, collect–as many books as she can finagle her Beloved Spouse Creature into purchasing. Over the years, she has gotten quite good at finagling.

Kimberley Griffiths Little is the recipient of the Southwest Book Award and the author of several novels which have been chosen for many state reading lists. She lives on a dirt road in a small town by the Rio Grande with her husband, a robotics engineer, and their three sons.

Annette Lyon has been writing ever since second grade, when she piled pillows on a chair to reach her mother's typewriter. A cum laude graduate from BYU with a degree in English, she has had success as a professional editor and doing newspaper, magazine, and business writing, but her first love is creating fiction. She's perhaps best known for her historical novels centered around the four old Utah temples. Band of Sisters, her seventh novel, is about five women who come together during their husbands' deployment to Afghanistan.

Her newest release, a cookbook called Chocolate Never Faileth, is a delicious departure from fiction and the culmination of over 5 months of test kitchen craziness and fun.

In 2007 Annette was awarded Utah's Best of State medal for fiction. Spires of Stone, her fifth novel, was a 2007 Whitney Award finalist for Best Historical Novel. She has received three publication awards from the League of Utah Writers and took first place in the 2009 Funds for Writers essay contest.

Tanya grew up overseas in a part of the world that has seen a lot of conflict--the Middle East--so she tries to view the world in terms of what people have in common, not what drives them apart. That's why she tries to write fiction that bridges cultures. The cultures may be national, geographical, religious, political, or even social. It doesn't matter to her. They all need bridging.

Born in Libya and baptized in Iraq, she graduated from BYU in Broadcast Journalism, served a mission in Italy, and worked for Sunset Magazine as an Assistant Editor for Trade Publications before settling down with a family of her own.

Heather Moore was born in Providence, Rhode Island, but spent most of her childhood in Orem, Utah. During these years, her family traveled back and forth between the Middle East and Utah. At the age of eight, while living in Egypt, she was baptized in the Red Sea. Heather attended the Anglican School of Jerusalem from 1987-88, and returned again to Jerusalem with her husband in 1994.

Heather graduated from Brigham Young University with a major in Fashion Merchandising and minor in Business Management. This has nothing to do with writing books, but at least she can color-coordinate her kids school clothes and balance a mean checkbook.

Carroll Hofeling Morris was born in Lovell, Wyoming, east of Yellowstone National Park and west of the Big Horn Mountains. She attended BYU, where she received my BA in German.

Carroll says, "I remember I writing some poems in 4th grade. I gave them to my teacher, and she promptly lost them! The short story I wrote in sixth grade fared better: 'The Horse’s Grave' appeared in the grade-school paper, 'The Puppy Dog’s Tale.'"

After that, Carroll’s fledgling writing career went underground for thirty years, until she wrote her first novel. She’s been writing ever since then—fiction and self-help books because she loves them and catalog copy to help put four children through college.

Carroll and husband Gary, retired three years ago to Green Valley, Arizona.

Lori Nawyn is the author/illustrator of Three Angels for Christmas. She is co-author of three inspirational short story collections and one cookbook. In addition, her award winning fiction and non-fiction works have appeared in regional and national publications. She works as an artist and graphic designer. Lori and her husband, Brian, a firefighter, enjoy their four children, two grandchildren, and three dogs.

Alison Palmer is a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor s degree in nursing. Alison stopped practicing nursing after several years to raise and home school her children.

Alison says: Writing is my favorite past time, but I also love to read (mostly juvenile and young adult). I like to spend time sewing, cooking, taking naps and long walks, playing piano or enjoying music, playing with my children and generally avoiding housework as if it were the plague.

I grew up in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and went to the LDS church at what was then a small branch in Clinton. I went to college at the University of Oklahoma, where I met my husband. We were married in the Dallas temple, which was then the closest one to our area. Our son was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. He is very proud of that.

Not long after Kevin was born, we moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, for my husband to attend graduate school, and ended up staying almost nine years after he got a full-time job there. We are now living in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. To be honest, we never expected that we’d end up in Wisconsin, but it’s a nice place and we are enjoying getting to know the people here.

Steven L. Peck is an evolutionary ecologist at Brigham Young University where he teaches the philosophy of biology. His scientific work has appeared in American Naturalist, Newsweek, Evolution, Trends in Ecology and Evolution, Biological Theory, Agriculture and Human Values, Biology & Philosophy, and co-edited volume on environmental stewardship.

Jolene B. Perry: I write almost nothing but love stories. I think it’s because I enjoy my own so much. I've been a writer for as long as I can remember. After receiving much parental acclaim for my first masterpiece, titled "Sue the Dog," I tried my hand at poetry. This phase lasted until my early teens, at which point my poems took a decidedly macabre turn and I decided to abandon it in favor of fantasy. That … turned out to be a fantasy.

I'm a stay-at-home mom, a home schooler, a media reviewer, an editor, a regular presenter at the LDStorymakers' writers conference, a Cubmaster, and a headless chicken. In addition to the novels I write, I maintain a blog which contains tips for aspiring authors and also my own personal ramblings, which sometimes make sense and sometimes do not. I enjoy reading, watching good movies, and making scrapbooks. I enjoy cooking and consider it a minor miracle when I can get all four children to like the same meal. I also enjoy making shopping lists (which I sometimes actually use), spending time with my kids, and taking Sunday afternoon naps, which are so necessary.

Clair M. Poulson was born and raised in Duchesne, Utah. His father was a rancher and farmer, his mother a librarian. Clair has always been an avid reader, having found his love for books as a very young boy.

He has served for forty years in the criminal justice system. Twenty years were spent in law enforcement, ending his police career with eight years as the Duchesne County Sheriff. For the past twenty years Clair has worked as a justice court judge for Duchesne County. Clair is also a veteran of the US Army where he was a military policeman. He has served on various boards and councils during his professional career, including the Justice Court Board of Judges, Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, Utah Judicial Council, Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training Council, an FBI advisory board and others.

In addition to his criminal justice work, Clair has farmed and ranched all of his life. He has raised many kinds of animals, but his greatest interest is horses.

Clair has served in many capacities in the LDS church, including fulltime missionary (California Mission) bishop, counselor to bishop, young men president, high councilor, stake mission president, scoutmaster, High Priest group leader, etc. He currently serves as a Sunday School teacher.

Clair is married to Ruth, and together, they have five children, all of whom are married: Alan (Vicena) Poulson, Kelly Ann (Wade) Hatch, Amanda (Ben) Semadeni, Wade (Brooke) Poulson, and Mary (Tyler) Hicken. Between them they have twenty-one children. Clair and Ruth met while both were students at Snow College and were married in the Manti temple.

Clair has always loved telling his children, and later his grandchildren, make-up stories. His vast experience in life and his love of literature has always contributed to both his telling stories to children and his writing of adventure and suspense novels.

Sheralyn was born at an early age, with 10 fingers and 10 toes. She is proud to report that she currently retains all 20 digits. Described by one reviewer as "the bomb dot com" (url already claimed... bummer), Sheralyn has been a karate instructor, musical theater performer, a beach bum, freelance writer, nomadic traveler, and, yes, a private investigator. At the moment she enjoys working with and training her dog to give the poor thing breaks from sitting and Sheralyn's feet with the unbearable task of watching someone write a book.
